My name is Michael Hartmann. I'm a 16 year old bowler from Earlton, New York. I've been bowling for most of my life. 3 years ago I started bowling for my school team, and helped them to capture third place in the patroon conference 2 years ago, and second place last year. My high game is a 277, which I've bowled 3 times. My high series is a 726. I've just recently started bowling competitevly, with a best finish of 4th in singles scratch bowling.
The thing I like most about bowling is the fact that every time you bowl, the lanes are always different, so it's always a new challenge. The best part about bowling competitevly is getting to travel to many different places, and bowling on all types of oil patterns, including modified versions of the PBA oil patterns. After high school I plan to go to college and obtain a degree in a science field. If possible I would like to continue bowling in college for either a school team, or in singles tournaments like I do now.
I bowled in the 2011 NEJST Championship Tournament at Bowl-O-Rama in Connecticut. The tournament consisted of two days of bowling: 9 games of qualifying the first day on the USBC Nationals oil pattern, and the second day had 6 games of qualifying, followed by match play on the Highway to Hell Kegel oil pattern. After the 15 games of qualifying, I was in 5thplace, and in 8th place in the Bash, which is a separate tournament that was going on at the same time. Match play consisted of 2 game matches where total pins would determine the winner. I ended up finishing in 6th in the Bash, and after 8 more games of match play, finished in 1st place in the Championship Tournament.
I also bowled in the 2010 High School Singles $100,000 North Pointe Tournament. The tournament was at Hindel Bowl in Indiana. The first day of the tournament consisted of bowling 5 games of qualifying with the top 20% of the field advancing. I didn't make it past the qualifying round last year, but since then I've vastly improved my game and plan to bowl much better at this years tournament.
